It’s impossible to think of American confectionery without thinking of Hershey’s. With an iconic Milky Way and the classic Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar to their name, Hershey’s has become synonymous with chocolate. Originally founded by Milton Hershey in 1894, the Hershey’s Chocolate Company quickly established themselves as a leader in the production of delicious American chocolate treats.

At the turn of the century, Hershey’s solidified their legacy with the sale of the first ever Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar. The bar introduced Americans to a new standard of chocolate that was smooth, creamy, and affordable. From there, the Hershey’s brand grew and evolved even further to introduce beloved treats like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Kit Kats.

The Hershey’s story is not only one of notable innovation in the world of chocolate, but also one of humanitarianism. In 1909, Milton Hershey established a trust that today funds the Milton Hershey School for financially underprivileged students. At the heart of Hershey’s success and longevity is the company’s commitment to quality and low prices. Hershey’s production utilizes advanced technology from the Hershey Food Corporation to bring high-grade products to the market while still maintaining competitive prices.

The Hershey’s Chocolate legacy

The Hershey’s legacy extends beyond the production and sale of delicious chocolate. In 1935, the company became the official sponsor of the iconic D-Day invasion, providing troops with Hershey’s chocolate in their Field Rations Kits. To this day, Hershey still plays an important role in the military, providing service members with Hershey’s care packages.

In celebration of Hershey’s storied history, the company has created the Chocolate and More Sweet Treat Trail. This exciting trial takes visitors back in time by exploring many of the iconic locations from Hershey’s thriving past. Things like the iconic Hershey Hotel, The Hershey Story museum and the Hershey’s Chocolate World provide a fascinating glimpse into the company’s timeless history.

Hershey’s also serves as an important contributor to the economy of the Harrisburg region. In 2012, the company completed a $300 million expansion at the west Hershey plant, ensuring the future production of Hershey’s chocolates for another century. Additionally, 85% of what the company sells in the United States is currently manufactured in the US by eight factories located throughout the country.

Visitors of Hershey’s Chocolate World are sure to find an abundance of sweet treats, along with enhanced health and safety measures. Although a risk of exposure to Covid-19 exists in any public place, Hershey’s Chocolate World provides instructions to guests in order to help ensure their safety and well-being.

No other company quite captures the spirit of the American sweeter tooth like Hershey’s. More than a century after Milton Hershey founded the company back in 1894, Hershey’s remains one of the top producers and suppliers of delicious, iconic American chocolates. The golden wrappers of the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar are a testament to the quality of Hershey’s confections, and there is no doubt that Hershey’s legacy will continue for many years to come.
